THALIR – Youth for Earth

India • Supported in 2026

Growing community-based regenerative agriculture through youth leadership.

What is alive right now?

Thalir continues to grow through four active youth groups that regularly organise training programmes, farmers' gatherings and awareness activities around Biodynamic Agriculture, healthy food systems and ecological living.

More young people and farmers are joining the initiative, while interest in regenerative farming, home gardening and traditional millet-based nutrition continues to increase throughout the communities they work with.

What has happened since receiving support?

Support from the Global Access & Project Fund enabled the creation of a community training centre and a CPP (Cow Pat Pit) facility, which have become important spaces for practical learning, youth gatherings and community exchange.

The project has expanded its educational programmes, strengthened youth leadership and developed meaningful international connections with practitioners from Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Current Focus

The team is currently focusing on:

  • Promoting millet-based nutrition

  • Developing value-added food products

  • Supporting rural youth entrepreneurship

  • Expanding Biodynamic livestock education

  • Strengthening community learning circles

One recent milestone has been launching farmers' gatherings where local knowledge and practical experience are shared collectively.

Milestones & Learnings

One important learning has been that regenerating food systems begins with education and awareness within families.

Beyond farming itself, the project has discovered that long-term transformation happens when communities reconnect with traditional food culture and when young people become trainers and leaders within their own villages.

Current Challenges

The biggest challenge today is ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the project. The team is seeking resources to continue expanding training programmes, strengthen youth leadership and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural communities.

How can the community help?

At this stage, Thalir would especially benefit from:

  • Additional funding

  • International partnerships

  • Exchange opportunities

  • Greater visibility

  • Connections with other youth initiatives working in regenerative agriculture and community development.

Together we cultivate young leaders for a regenerative future.
